5 Bits of Beauty News You Might Have Missed This Week

Which celebrities are launching makeup collections? How did Match.com manage to insult loads of Tube passengers? Which beauty brand are Disney collaborating with? Who the hell would actually get a Kylie Cosmetics tattoo? Grab a cuppa and get comfy, here’s all you need to know about the last 7 days in the world of beauty.

1. Victoria Beckham and Rihanna are launching makeup ranges

VB has announced that she’s partnering with Estee Lauder to release a limited edition cosmetics collection this September. She stated: “The whole process has been both inspiring and eye-opening, from going back and revisiting the Estée Lauder archives, through to working on the product with the Estée team, this feels like the perfect makeup partnership for me and my brand.”

We’re expecting the collection to include gorgeous taupe eyeshadows and a killer nude lip.

Rihanna is also launching her own makeup line, Fenty Beauty, next year. The trendsetter dipped her toes into the beauty industry back in 2014 when she collaborated with MAC, but this will be the first time she’s launched products that are entirely her own.

We hosted a poll over on Twitter (@canvasmaguk), and it seems that although you’re excited for both collections to launch, Mrs Beckham is getting the majority of you hot under the collar. Can you even imagine how gorgeous that packaging is going to be?

2. Match.com has pissed off loads of people with offensive ‘imperfection’ adverts

The dating website launched their ‘imperfection’ adverts on the London Underground last Monday, and received a social media uproar in return. One of the adverts in particular cites freckles as being an ‘imperfection’, which many members of the public found insulting. Match.com responded to the criticism with the following tweet:

3. A Kylie Jenner super fan got a tattoo of her lipstick swatches

We all have a particular lipstick range that we adore, but would you ever go as far as to get the swatches of that range inked permanently onto your skin? Johnny Cyrus, an 18-year-old Kylie Jenner worshipper from Wisconsin, did just that. He told BuzzFeed: “I loved the colours so much I needed them on my body.”

4. Cara Delevingne is the new face of Rimmel London

Alongside Kate Moss, Cara is an icon of British fashion – so it only makes sense that she’d eventually join the Rimmel London squad. Although Cara has modelled for high end beauty brands in the past such as Tom Ford, Chanel and YSL, this will be the first time she’s ever fronted a cosmetics campaign on the high street.  We can’t wait to see what she brings to the brand.

5. Disney are collaborating with Urban Decay

To celebrate the release of Alice Through the Looking Glass on May 17th, Disney have created a beauty collection with Urban Decay inspired by the movie and it’s characters. Laura Rolfe, an Assistant Store Manager within the Walt Disney Company, said: “The great thing about Disney is that as long as you are a fan, it means you never have to grow up. Our new collaboration with Urban Decay cements this theory and for a lot of people means they can combine two passions in one; their love of Disney and their love of cosmetics.

“As one of the traditional favourites, it is great to see the characters from Alice in Wonderland depicted in the different shades. This is the beginning of an exciting time for Disney and I am thrilled that we have chosen to work with such a respected brand.”
