Are You Keeping Up with the Kylie Lip Kit Drama?

Forget ‘Keeping Up’ with the rest of the Kardashian clan, now all the drama seems to be surrounding the youngest Jenner sister’s lipstick empire. Many customers have been left unsatisfied with the customer service from the Kylie Cosmetics company, we caught up with a few disgruntled lipstick buyers to find out just what’s been going on…

Amy Liddell, 22, went through the battle of buying one of the insanely popular lipsticks, only to find that when the package was delivered, it was totally empty. Nobody wants to pay £50 for an empty cardboard box the size of an A5 piece of paper.

In Amy’s blog post entitled ‘Why I’ll Never Order From Kylie Cosmetics Again‘, she spoke about how infuriating it was to receive an empty parcel:

“I opened the door to my postman who handed me the trademark Kylie Cosmetics box and I couldn’t contain my excitement. I opened it up, expecting my (very expensive) lip product to fall out and what did I get? Nothing but a box full of foam. Yep, that is it.

“All that was in my “Kylie” box was protective foam and my order confirmation. No lip kit. No cute Kylie postcard. Nothing. I’m not going to lie, I was devastated.”

“After getting over the initial confusion that there was nothing in my parcel, I logged onto my laptop and sent the Kylie Cosmetics an email with my order number, stating what had happened. I’ve worked in retail, I understand mistakes happen all the time and I’ve ordered plenty of times from the internet to find the order has been missing something or the wrong thing has been sent and usually, the customer service team sort it out immediately. As a very famous, popular and now well-established business, I expected nothing but the best customer service from Kylie Cosmetics but sadly, I couldn’t have been more wrong.”

We spoke to Amy about her experience and how it made her feel:

C: Hi Amy! Thanks for talking to us about this. Were you surprised with the reaction that you had on social media in regards to other people coming forward with similar stories about the Kylie Cosmetics company?

A: I was definitely surprised with the reaction from social media. I knew other people would have had problems but I certainly didn’t expect there to be so many whose items were missing, whose parcels didn’t turn up at all or whose lip kits were completely smashed or broken. What was even more surprising though was how few people had actually managed to get refunds or replacements. Out of the people I’d spoken to, only three people had managed to get a helpful response from the customer service team, something which is absolutely shocking considering how many people had problems.

C: That’s outrageous! How did the lack of interaction from the company about your problem make you feel?

A: “I was so disappointed with the Kylie Cosmetics customer service team. They’re a high profile, very popular, extremely rich company and I expected so much better from them. The excuses they have given people to get out of paying them are absolutely appalling and I cannot believe that they expect to get away with it simply because they have Kylie Jenner as their face.”

Amy isn’t the only person who has been let down by the company. Nour Merehbi, 17, from the United Arab Emirates has also had her Lip Kits go AWOL, and Kylie Cosmetics are refusing to do anything about it: “I tried multiple times to purchase a lip kit, but on the 12th March I was lucky enough to buy 8! I got them in two separate orders, getting 6 in one and 2 in another. I filled out the information and everything went smoothly, I received the confirmation email with my tracking numbers for both packages. My first order which had two lip kits went into transit on the 17th March, and my second started moving on the 21st. This is when things got a bit weird.

“I checked the progress the next day and both packages hadn’t moved location. I waited another week, and they still hadn’t arrived. I contacted Kylie Cosmetics telling them my situation, and they suggested I contact USPS, who then said that they couldn’t do anything and I had to talk to the company who I made the purchases with.

“I contacted Kylie Cosmetics again, but still to this day I haven’t had a reply.

“It’s been over a month now, and I’m still yet to receive my $260 order.”

Some unlucky customers who ordered the Kylie lip products last Monday have even faced problems with the company before their orders were even dispatched. A bug contaminated the website on Monday, and has potentially exposed thousands of customer’s personal details.

TMZ reported on the leak in this article, claiming: “When someone tried to log into the site, it would send them to an existing customer’s account, revealing names, email addresses, personal addresses, order history, etc. Every time a customer refreshed the site, it would send them to another customer’s account.” So if you made a purchase on http://www.kyliecosmetics.com earlier in the week, it might be worth checking your bank statement incase there’s anything dodgy going on.

    She’s right it’s not good business acumen. There’s never enough supply for the demand. There’s a lot of complaints about the long waiting times. The only thing keeping this business going is the fame of the brand Kardashian.

    I ordered the three lip glosses exactly 2 weeks ago on 4/4/16 and have yet to receive a shipping confirmation or my order. But they sure did take the $60.00 out of my bank account.
